Shirley J. Eibling

Shirley Joan (Corathers) Eibling, 90, of Van Wert and recently of Edgerton, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Parkview Care Center in Edgerton, Ohio, where she had been a resident. She was born July 27, 1936, in Van Wert, to the late Tennyson and Mildred (Cowell) Corathers. Shirley graduated from Van Wert High School in 1955. On August 23, 1969, she married John R. Eibling, who preceded her in death on April 1, 2017.She was a member of Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert. Shirley worked as a nurse’s aide at Van Wert County Hospital for 17 years, where she was known for her kindness and dedication to those she cared for. Survivors include her daughter, Cheri (Eibling) Vollmer of Bryan, OH; stepson, John D. (Sherry) Eibling of Van Wert; stepdaughter, Susan (Eibling) Mutter of Van Wert; nieces, Lisa (Agler) Dull of Van Wert and Beth (Agler) Cobb of Van Wert; brother‑in‑law, Ron Agler of Van Wert; and grandchildren: Courtney (Quayde) Combs of Sherwood, OH; Heather Vollmer of Toledo, OH; Sarah Vollmer of Bryan, OH; Kenny (Lisa) Turner of Elgin, TX; Tarah (Turner) Brewer of Kingsport, TN; Terry (Sonya) Turner of Fayetteville, AL; Greg (Gail) Eibling of Van Wert; Kayla (Eibling) Frye of Eubank, KY; and Carrie (Eibling) Showalter of Eubank, KY. She is also survived by several step‑great‑grandchildren and great‑great‑grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Scott David Eibling; stepson, Greg Eibling; sister, Vera (Corathers) Agler; and her parents, Tennyson and Mildred (Cowell) Corathers. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Alspach‑Gearhart Funeral Home Chapel, Van Wert. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Wednesday, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to Trinity Friends Church, 605 N.
