Sharon Kay Young

March 24, 1967 — July 10, 2023

Sharon Kay Young, beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2023, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. She was surrounded by her family and loved ones during her final moments. Sharon's life was a testament to strength, love, and resilience.

Born on March 24, 1967, in Indianapolis, Sharon grew up with a deep sense of compassion and kindness. These qualities stayed with her throughout her life and touched the hearts of everyone she met. She was known for her selflessness and willingness to go above and beyond for others.

Sharon found fulfillment in her career as a team lead at Wal-Mart where she was well-loved by her colleagues. She approached every task with dedication and her positive attitude and ability to inspire those around her were truly remarkable.

Outside of work, Sharon treasured spending time with her children, family, and close friends. One of her greatest joys was accompanying her daughter to Special Olympic events, supporting her wholeheartedly in every endeavor. She found immense happiness in being there for her loved ones and creating lasting memories together.

Strength ran deep within Sharon's spirit as she faced life's trials head-on. With the unwavering support of family and loved ones by her side, she conquered every challenge that came her way. Her determination served as an inspiration to all who knew her.

Sharon counted raising her children as one of her proudest accomplishments. Ann M. Young, Jonathan R. Young, and Amber M. Young were the lights of her life. She poured all of her love into their upbringing and instilled within them the same values that made Sharon so special—kindness, compassion, and resilience.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Betty Combs; husband Craig Young; siblings Duane Adams and Jeannie Grogg. Although they are no longer with us, their memories will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved them.

She is survived by her loving children: Ann M. Young, Jonathan R. Young, and Amber M. Young, all of Convoy. Sharon's siblings include her twin sister, Karen (Tim) Vorndran of Fort Wayne, Gerry (Barb) Grogg of Convoy, Gayland Grogg, Bonnie Grogg, Phil (Alice) Grogg, all of Bluffton, IN, Tina (Mike) Miller of Anderson, IN. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Diane Clemons of Convoy.

A visitation to honor and remember Sharon's life will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Gearhart-Sauer Funeral Home located at 655 N Main St in Convoy, Ohio. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., also at Gearhart-Sauer Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to come together during this time to share stories and support one another as they mourn the loss of an incredible woman.

Sharon's presence in our lives will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her legacy of kindness and resilience will continue to inspire us all to embrace life with open hearts and unwavering strength. As we celebrate her remarkable journey on this earth, let us remember her with love and gratitude for blessing our lives with her beautiful spirit.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Van Wert Special Olympics in honor of Sharon's passion for supporting her daughter's participation in these meaningful events or to the Breast Cancer Research Fund.
