Philip J. Ramos, 77, of Van Wert, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born August 28, 1949, in Van Wert to the late Romelo and Juanita (Perez) Ramos.
On March 30, 1968, Phil married the love of his life, Penny R. Parsons. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and laughter, raising three children: Philip, Tonya, and Stuart.
As a young man, Phil worked for the railroad before beginning a long career with National Seal, where he dedicated many years of service before his retirement. He was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church and formerly belonged to the Van Wert Moose.
Phil enjoyed cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, spending time with his fishing games, and, most of all, striking up conversations with just about anyone he met. Known for his storytelling, quick wit, and gift of gab, he never met a stranger and could turn an ordinary encounter into a memorable conversation. His warmth, humor, and outgoing spirit left a lasting impression on countless lives.
More than anything, Phil cherished his family and his relationship with God. Whether sharing stories, celebrating life's milestones, or simply spending time together, he found his greatest joy in those he loved.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Penny Ramos of Van Wert; his son, Philip (Tricia) Ramos Jr. of Arkansas; his daughter, Tonya (David Jr.) Andrew of Defiance; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.
In addition to his parents, Phil was preceded in death by his beloved son, Stuart Ramos, a grandson, Devin and his sister, Phyllis Trejo.
A private graveside committal service will be held at Ridge Cemetery, where Phil will be laid to rest.
