Marlin "Gene" Miller, 83, of Van Wert, Ohio went home to the Lord on July 24, 2026 after a brief hospitalization surrounded by loving family and with his wife of 62 years at his side.
Gene was born on November 16, 1942, east of Van Wert in Ridge Township. He was the only child of David L. and Alberta (Wurster) Miller who preceded him in death. In 1964, Gene married Linda (Brandon) Miller and together they shared a life filled with wonderful memories and cherished family.
In addition to his wife Linda, Gene is survived by daughter Tamara (Dale) Parsons of Cedarville, Ohio and son Timothy (Michele) Miller of Fort Wayne, Indiana. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren and great grandson: Elise (Jonny) Jimison and Perry, Abigail (Andrew) Francis, Josiah (Jessica) Parsons and Joel (Komal Dhillon) Miller.
Gene graduated with the Rockford High School Class of 1960 and was a graduate of Wright State University. He worked as an engineer with Federal Mogul Corporation for many years and later retired from Greve Chrysler. He was a longtime member of Trinity Global Methodist Church and served cheerfully in many ways over the years. Gene will be remembered for his quiet faith, generous kindness, the integrity of his work ethic and his deep love and care for his family.
There will be visitation at a memorial reception in Gene's honor at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert on Thursday, July 30, 2026 from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. A private family funeral at Trinity Global Methodist with committal service at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford will take place on Friday with Pastor David To officiating.
