Kent E. Missler

Kent E. Missler, 74, of Ohio City, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 29, 1948, in Van Wert, to the late Paul and Virginia (Gamble) Missler. Kent served in the United States Navy. A graduate of Lincolnview High School, Kent went on to complete many trade courses and certifications at Vantage Career Center. In addition to being a longtime farmer, he was a welder by trade. Kent worked at Caterpillar Inc before moving on to Lima Army Tank Plant and then on to Trailer Steel and Stamping. He also owned and operated K&L Welding. Kent was a tinkerer and enjoyed model trains and model cars. As a hot rod enthusiast, Kent was proud to have owned a 1955 Chevy and was known by his CB handle, "Sugar Bear." He also liked fishing and being outdoors. Surviving are his daughter, Kati (Bruce) Baxter) Silance of Decatur; son, Kade (Jennifer) Missler of Van Wert; stepchildren: Sherri Hinkle of St. Marys, Lori (Scott0 Schoenleben of Mercer, Steve (Sherry) Hinkle of Rockford; 1 brother; 2 sisters; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren and several step-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Kent was preceded in death by his son, Jeremy Todd Missler and one step grandchild. A time of sharing will be at 3:00 PM, Friday, April 21, 2023 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, 722 S. Washington Street, Van Wert, OH 45891 with military rites to follow.
