MIDDLE POINT, Ohio - Jeffrey Scott Evans, 37, of Middle Point, died at 2:38 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at Van Wert Hospital, Van Wert, Ohio.

He was born Nov. 12, 1975, in Van Wert. He is survived by his mother and stepfather: Judy (Rogers) and Brad Dotson of Ft. Jennings, Ohio, and father and stepmother: James (Lisa) Evans of Middle Point.

His wife, Bethanie (Gootee) Evans, survives of Middle Point. They were married Feb. 14, 2008.

Other survivors include his children: Gabe, Brayden and Peyton Evans, who all survive at home; stepdaughter, Destiny Coil, who also survives at home; sister: Jennifer (Ben) Byrne of Middle Point; stepsisters: Jennifer and Katlynn Dotson of Van Wert, and Mallory Bonifas of Naples, Fla.; stepbrothers: Jamie (Stacie) Dotson of Van Wert and Josh (Afton) Dotson of Dayton, Ohio; nieces: Carley Springer, Devann Springer, Rylee Byrne and Brooklyn Byrne, all of Middle Point; maternal grandmother: Phyllis Rogers of Van Wert; paternal grandmother: Betty Evans of Van Wert, and father- and mother-in-law: Randy and Natalie Sevitz of Van Wert.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Gordon Rogers; paternal grandfather, Lloyd Evans; his maternal great-grandparents: Espy and Mary Rogers and Leonard and Maye Cryer, and paternal great-grandparents: Austin and Alice Miller and George and Adah Evans.

He farmed with his father and also worked at Osting Farm Drainage in Van Wert. He was a member of Middle Point United Methodist Church in Middle Point. A 1994 graduate of Lincolnview High School, Jeff loved farming with his dad, hunting, snowmobiling and spending time at the lake with his family.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert. The Rev. Paul Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point.

Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials may be directed to his children's education fund.
