Janet K. Risley, 72, of Van Wert, died at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Hospice Home of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was born Nov. 14, 1944, in Van Wert, to Thelma Opal (Leonard) Barnhart and Allen “Allie” Barnhart. Her parents are deceased. Her husband, Donald L. Risley Sr., survives of Van Wert.
Other survivors include children, Donny (Rhonda) Risley of Convoy, Ohio, Angela (Rodney) Courtney of Delphos, Ohio, and Amanda (Brent) Geething of Van Wert; a brother, Bill (Evelyn) Barnhart of Van Wert; sisters, Ellen (Ed) Grimes and Karen (Dennis) Stout, all of Van Wert; grandchildren, Calvin (Chelsea Burnett), DJ and Rain Risley, Clay and Elliott Courtney, Lillian, Stephanie and Jacob Geething, and great-grandchildren, Xavier, Hendrix and Eli.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Harrell, Allie, Delbert, Bobby and Jimmy Barnhart, and five sisters, Ceola Shindeldecker, Loretta Rader, Rosalee Miller, Arbadella Coressel and Betty Jewel.
She worked for 17 years at North American Philips before they closed the plant. Following the plant closure, she and Don worked every weekend at Traders World Flea Market for 13 years. Janet enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas and playing nickel slots.
Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. Vince Barnhart will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point, Ohio. Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Visiting Nurses & Hospice Home of Fort Wayne.
