Gene Leininger

Gene Leininger, 90, of Rockford, Ohio, died at 10:15 p.m. on Friday, April 23, 2010, at the Celina Manor, Celina, Ohio. He was born December 29, 1919, in Mercer County, Ohio, to Samuel Jacob and Lela (Myers) Leininger. On December 24, 1943, he married Ruth LaVaun Clay, and she preceded in death on October 2, 2006. He retired from the Central Insurance Company in Van Wert, Ohio, and had also been employed by Pontius Hardware, in Rockford, Ohio. He had been a farmer his entire life and was a member of the Rockford United Methodist Church and the Mercer County Farm Bureau Council. Surviving is one daughter, LaVonna, of Celina, Ohio, one sister, Genevieve Siebert, of Rockford, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Rev. Ray Daniels and Pastor Chip Steffy officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 27, from 2-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
