Gale Shaffer

Gale Shaffer, 69, Rockford, died Wednesday August 18, 2010, at 2:10 a.m. at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born June 30, 1941 in Celina to John W. and Grayce (Gibson) Shaffer. Surviving are special friend: Marianna Sutton, Rockford; two sons: Richard Shaffer and Terry Shaffer, both of Rockford; two step-sons: Bryan (Kelly) Sutton, Rockford, and Dan (Marcia) Sutton, Toledo; four step-daughters: Crista ( Keith) Heindel, Celina, Maralee (Bruce) Kochensparger, Van Wert, Ann (Mark) Esselstein, Rockford, and Elaine Sutton, Van Wert; one brother: Harold (Pat) Shaffer, Rockford; one sister: Ruth (Tom) Myers, Rockford; four grandchildren, thirteen step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was a 1959 graduate of Rockford High School. He worked at National Seal, Van Wert and Mercer Landmark, Rockford. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1292 and American Legion Post #508 both of Rockford. He was also a member of Rockford United Methodist Church. Funeral Services are Monday August 23, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, Pastor Marvin Schwartz officiating. Burial will be at Mercer Memory Gardens Cemetery, Celina. Calling is Sunday August 22 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Ketcham-Ripley funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Memorials can be directed to American Lung Association. [photosmash id=26]
