Elmo F. Scott, 90, of Van Wert, passed peacefully at 11:50 PM Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Sarah Jane Living Center in Delphos, Ohio. He was born May 7, 1927 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Clarence and Gladys (Davies) Scott.
On October 21, 1951, he married Evelyn G. Adams at First United Methodist Church in Van Wert, Ohio.
Elmo retired on August 22, 1981 as Lieutenant Commander of the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. He is a veteran of the United States Navy serving in both World War II and on the USS Takelma during the Korean War. He was a member of the Van Wert American Legion and V.F.W., the Ohio State Highway Patrol Retiree’s Association, the Van Wert Lion’s Club, he was a 32nd degree Mason and Royal Arch Mason in Van Wert, he belonged to the Aladdin Shriners in Columbus, Ohio, was a long-time representative at Ohio Boys State, and had attended the former Grace Church and Trinity United Methodist Church, Both in Van Wert.
Elmo is survived by his four children, Philip (Diann) Scott, Melanie (Jeff) Souder, Kristine (Don) Goodman and Catherine (Gustavo) Baltazar; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife Evelyn, Elmo was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Jane Burkett and Kathleen Guilford.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12:30 PM on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point, Ohio with military honors being performed by combined units of the Van Wert American Legion and VFW posts.
Visitation will be 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory. There will be a masonic service held at 11:30 AM.
