VAN WERT, Ohio - Edward S. Leland, 71, of Van Wert, died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2011 at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert.
He was born June 11, 1939, in Saginaw, Mich., to the late Betty (Brown) Leland and Ward Leland. His wife, Patricia Ann (Opliger) Leland, survives. The couple was married June 9, 1990.
Survivors include his children: Scott (Kristine) Leland and Shawne Leland, both of Lima, Ohio, Shannon (Howard) Baker of Melbourne, Fla., and Stacey Ann (Andy) Ball of Lawrence, Kan.; a sister: Janet Leland of Ann Arbor, Mich.; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Van Wert. He retired as the vice president of human resources from the Van Wert County Hospital. He was a former member of the Van Wert Elk's Lodge 1197 for 23 years and had served as the secretary of the Church Council.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011, at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Van Wert. The Rev. William Haggis will officiate.
