Dick Stetler

Dicky Dean Stetler, 76, of Rockford, Ohio, died at 7:35 a.m. Saturday, October 2, 2010, at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert, Ohio, where he had been a patient. He was born on April 23, 1934 in Rockford to Carl and Edith (Caywood) Stetler. On September 8, 1964, he married Evelyn Joan Koontz, and she survives in Rockford.

He lived in the Rockford area all his life, and served in the United States Marine Corps in the Korean Conflict. He was a life member of the Van Wert V.F.W. Post #178, a member of the Rockford American Legion Post #508, and a member of the Olive Branch Church of God in Ohio City, Ohio. He was employed at Kennedy Kit in Van Wert, Ohio, for over 43 years before retiring.

Surviving in addition to his wife Joan, is a son Douglas (Martha) Stetler of St. Marys, Ohio; a daughter Lisa Linn of Van Wert, Ohio; 2 step sons Curtis (Cheryl) Snider of Tama, Ohio and Steve (Peg) Snider of Celina, Ohio; a step-daughter Pam (Greg) Kabanuk of Van Wert, Ohio. One brother survives, Ronnie (Hope) Stetler of Fairfield, Ohio, along with a sister-in-law, Marvel Stetler, Rockford, and a brother-in-law, Al Heitkamp, also of Rockford. Fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren also survive.

Deceased is one step-son, Richard Snider; a sister, Connie Heitkamp, and a brother, Donald (Butch) Stetler.

There will be a 7:30 pm service Tuesday evening at the funeral home by the Van Wert V.F.W. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford with Rev. Steve Waterman officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. and on Wednesday, 1 hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the church or to the Donor's Choice.
