David Wood

September 25, 1966 — January 28, 2025

David A. Wood, known to many as Hillbilly or Hilljack, passed away peacefully at his home in Van Wert on January 28, 2025, at the age of 58. Born on September 25, 1966, in Evansville, Indiana, he was the son of Ralph Wood and Sophie Brown, who have both passed before him.

David's journey brought him to Van Wert in 2004 when he moved there to care for his aging father. It was there that he found the love of his life, Connie S. Rolsten. The two tied the knot on February 25, 2006, and since then, they created countless memories together.

A passionate collector, David had a passion for football and baseball cards, along with anything that featured skeletons. His playful spirit and zest for life will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

David is survived by his loving wife Connie, his brother Jeff (Kim) Wood from Georgia, and Julie Brown from Evansville, IN. He was also preceded in death by a sister.

Friends and family will have the opportunity to pay their respects during visitation, which will take place from 2 to 8 PM on Monday, February 3rd, 2025, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, David's family asks that donations be made to the Van Wert Humane Society or to your local ASPCA, in honor of his love for animals.
