Charles "Charlie" Lee Sapp, 83, of Rockford passed away at 12:24 pm on October 21, 2021 at Roselawn Manor in Spencerville.

He was born on February 19, 1938, in Mercer County at State Line, the son of the late Paul Eugene Sapp and Jessie (Snyder) Sapp. On August 26, 1977, he married the former Sharon Ellis who survives.

Charlie was a graduate of Rockford High School.

Charlie worked as a machinist and had worked at Speicher Brothers in Celina as well as Greif Brothers in Van Wert.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Charlie was a member of the Shanes Lodge #377 Masons in Rockford, Shriners of Toledo, the Rockford Eagles Lodge # 1292, and Scottish Rite, Dayton.

Charlie was a Cincinnati Bengals and Ohio State University fan. He loved woodworking and also loved working on cars. Charlie loved to hunt everything and was a member of the Ponderosa Club in Michigan. But most of all, Charlie loved to spend time with his grandchildren and his little dog, Lucy.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Vicki (Dana) Smith of Convoy, Jackie (Randy) Weddle of Dayton, and Nikki Fox of Rockford; two step-sons, Rodney (Theresa) Klausing of Rockford, Randy (Kim) Klausing of Ohio City; three brothers Dick (Karen) Sapp, Roger (Fran) Sapp, Steve (Connie) Sapp all of Rockford; two sisters, Nancy (Dan) Kline of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and Toby (Dan) Feasel of Bryan, Ohio; sister-in-law, Linda Sapp of Celina; twelve grandchildren, Bonnie (Cory) Wells, Bethany (Shaun) Balliet, Heather (Clint) Bontempo, Andrew (Alex) Weddle, Zachary (Amanda) Fox, Sarah Fox, Rebecca (Joe) Steiner, Tiffany Hopkins, Brittany Klausing, Jesse Klausing, Hayley Schoenleben, and Jessica Klausing; and eighteen great grandchildren, Emma, Smith, Huxley, Delanie, Calin, Brynlee, Chloe, Anthony, Peter, Rose, Aaron, Norah, J.J., Carlie, Jackson, Micole, Jayden, and Jordan.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael Fox; and two brothers, Benny Sapp, and Larry Sapp.

Services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Ketcham Ripley Funeral Home with Pastor Harold Klinker officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, 3750 US-33 Rockford, OH 45882.

Family and friends will be received from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with Masonic, Shriner's and Scottish Rites performed at 7:00 PM and Fraternal Order of Eagles service at 7:30 PM on Monday, October 25, as well as one hour prior to the funeral service, on Tuesday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Charles`s memory may be sent to Rockford Fire and EMS .
