Carolyn Dunmire

Carolyn L. (Chivington) Dunmire, 85, of Van Wert passed away at 7:01 PM on Friday, April 28, 2023 at her residence. She was born on September 3, 1937, in Van Wert, to Charles and Ethel (Miller) Chivington. On December 23, 1967, she married Kenneth L. Dunmire, who preceded her in death. Together, they shared many years of memories. Carolyn was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She also worked as a nurse's aide at the Castle and Hearth and Home, both of Van Wert, for many years, and at Marsh Supermarket. Carolyn was a member of the Van Wert American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Van Wert Moose Lodge. She enjoyed bingo, reading and riding motorcycles. Surviving are daughters, Tammy Tomlinson of Van Wert, Kimberly (Tom) Wyman of Columbus, Oh, Sherri (Brian) Schaadt of Van Wert, Kerri Thomas of Van Wert and Jacqueline Dixon of Van Wert; sons, Kenneth L. (Jan) Dunmire, Jr of Magnolia, Texas and Steven Dunmire of Paulding; 23 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Carolyn was preceded in death by a daughter, Candace Wills; three brothers, Frank, Bill and Chuck Chivington; a sister, Ilo Wills; a son in law, Tom Tomlinson; and a grandchild. A Celebration of Carolyn's life will be held from 2:00-6:00 PM on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert.
