VAN WERT - Audrey Speakman-Jacobs, 88, of Van Wert, OH, passed away at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Hearth & Home of Van Wert.
She was born on August 15, 1925, in Crestline, OH, to Russell and Ermal (Book) Dickson, both of whom are deceased. She married Ray E. Speakman, who is deceased, and Calvin L. Jacobs, who also preceded her in death.
Speakman-Jacobs is survived by her children, Doug Speakman of Ft. Wayne, IN and Karen Morris, Van Wert, OH; eight grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Couts; three brothers, Harlan, Doyt, and Gary Dickson; two sisters, Cheryl O'Brien and Wanda Volz; and one grandchild.
Speakman-Jacobs managed the former Lord's Dress Shop in Van Wert and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Van Wert.
Visitation will take place from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, August 1 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, OH. The service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 2 and be officiated by Rev. Paul Miller. A burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Preferred memorials are to the First United Methodist Church Music Fund.
