William Evans

William Bowen Evans, 80, of Van Wert, Ohio died at 6:40 PM on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Vancrest of Van Wert.  He was born November 2, 1937 in Chase, Michigan to the late James J. and Nellie (Mohr) Evans.  He married Nancy J. (Tribolet) and she survives of Van Wert.

Bill was a lifetime farmer and retired from Aeroquip Corporation in Van Wert.  He had also worked at Lee’s Ace Hardware in Van Wert.  Bill enjoyed being a member of the Van Wert Elks Lodge and Van Wert County Farm Focus.

He is also survived by his children, William B. (Jackie) Evans, II of Van Wert, Jay (Dawn) Evans of Kannapolis, North Carolina, and Deb (Shawn) Rice of Decatur, Indiana; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer Menze, Jill Fromader, Jackie Rice, Gavin Evans, Trey Evans, Nick Evans and Corri Atencio; 5 great grandchildren; and sisters, Bertha Now of Massillon, Ohio and Joann (Bob) Wilkins of New Knoxville, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori A. Evans; brothers, John and James Evans; and sisters, Nell Kuhman and Sabina Lodge.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, Ohio.  Burial in Woodland Cemetery will be held at a later date.

Viewing will be from 2-8 PM on Friday, March 9, 2018 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers preferred memorials may be directed to the Middle Point Ballpark Association or to the Van Wert County Fair.
