Larry Mumma

Larry G. Mumma, 78, of Van Wert, passed away 2:40 PM on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice. He was born May 27, 1940, in Bluffton, Ohio, to the late Merlin M. & Lavon (Cook) Mumma.

A graduate of Bluffton High School, Larry was a three sport athlete having lettered in football, baseball and basketball.  He went on to serve his country in the United States Army. Larry loved spending time on the beaches of Fort Myers with his family. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye nut.

A gentle soul, Larry was giving and loving. He was a baptized and confirmed member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He was married to the love of his life, Carolyn Miller on August 9, 2014 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church by Rev. Philip Zielenski.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Mumma of Van Wert; son, Tony (Farah) Mumma of Gomer; daughter, Lori (Dan) Freund of Van Wert; brother, Jim (Becky) Mumma of North Fort Myers, FL; Karen (Gary) Brismore of Pandora; grandchildren: Seth, Shelby, Austin & Brianna; Shannon (Robert) Spear; great-grandchildren: Evali, Xehrya & Lynix.; Braxten, Braelynn & Renson; as well las his little buddy, Tessie.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his half-brother, Bob Beemer.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Emanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Kurt Klingbeil presiding. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Monday at the church and again from 9 to 11 am Tuesday.

Preferred memorials are to Emmanuel Lutheran Church or to the Van Wert County Humane Society.
