Gaylord E. "Gabe" Baker

July 19, 1955 ~ April 9, 2018 (age 62)

Gaylord E. “Gabe” Baker, 62, of Van Wert, passed away at 2:47 AM, Monday, April 09, 2018 at OSU Wexner Medical Center.  He was born July 19, 1955 in Van Wert, to Golda M. (Trail) Baker and the late Marion Eugene Baker.

As a youngster, Gabe was a member of the Boy Scouts Troop 35, and was a graduate of Van Wert High School where he played football. As a teenager, he attended First Baptist Church and Faith Baptist Church. Gabe worked for Kennedy Kit for more than 40 years, until his illness forced him to retire. For many years, Gabe looked forward to working the fair circuit with Fiske Concession making French Fries.

Gabe was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes Football fan, and a lifelong Chicago Bears fan. He was an excellent drawer and loved fishing. Above all, Gabe adored his children and grandchildren.

His is survived by his children, Tiffany Heidenescher of Ottoville, Ohio; Ammie  Barnes; Ryan Baker, both of Van Wert; mother, Golda M. Baker of Van Wert; brother, Robert P. (Beth) Baker of Carey, OH; grandchildren, Kimberly Elyse Baker, Alexander Heidenescher, Erika Younts; Payton Waltmire; Gabriel Barnes; Dristyn Barnes; Kimber Skye Baker; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, Gabe was preceded in death by his former wife, and mother of his children, Kimberly A. Baker; and his grandson, Jacob Ryan Heidenescher.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 AM on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory with his cousin, Rev. Gerald Baker presiding. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.                                             .

Visitation will be Thursday, form 2 to 8 pm at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial are to the family for final expenses.
